  • I n real life, Integers are used different field like sports, and people utilize banks to deposit or withdraw cash, Read a temperature below zero, calculate a loss or gain in stocks or look at posted speed limits. .It is easy to recognize numbers in the real world. It is relatively easy to see how positive integers affect the world; In general negative integers represent decreasing and downward movement. so students need a positive approach to learn negative integers.

  • ·         If a quantity may have either of two opposite senses, then one may choose to distinguish between those senses- perhaps arbitrarily-as positive and negative. The laws of Arithmetic for negative numbers ensure that the common sense idea of an opposite is reflected in arithmetic. For example –( -3)= 3 because the opposite of an opposite is the original thing.


  • ·         Maths is numbers. Numbers are Integers. Real life situations can be calculated in integer value as well. Integer value is either positive or negative for real life situations. Positive numbers show the goodness, happiness, togetherness and well-being whereas negative numbers show dullness, sadness and low feeling etc

Every minute dies a man, Every minute one is born. Positive and negative things happen in the world, still God never ends anything on a negative , God always ends on a positive.

TITLE OF THE PROJECT: DISTANCE,TIME AND SPEED

Class V MATHEMATICS
BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT (MOTIVATION OF UNDERTAKING THE PROJECT):


     We come across many bodies in motion in our daily life like bird flying, bus moving, fishes swimming, boy running, helicopter travelling etc. When running to work, it is related to TIME and SPEED.  Correlating the relation between SPEED, TIME and DISTANCE is the main aim of this project.

                       PREPARATORY WORK
ACTIVITIES
·    Comparison of speed of students using stopwatch.
·    Writing a passage in a required time.
·    Conducting 50ms race and finding the “sprint queen” and “sprint king” of the group.
·    PowerPoint presentation.
·    Showing video clips of National or International athletic meet.

EXCECUTION OF THE PROJECT
·     Distance, speed and time in our daily speech.
·     Word problems using flashcards (The students will take the appropriate terms given in the problem. The term left on the screen is the term that we have to find. FOR EXAMPLE, students take the given terms D and T from the screen. The term left on the screen is S. that is S= d/t.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE PROJECTS

*Application of distance, time and speed through the story of fisherman family.

The main occupation in Kerala is fishing and the fisherman communities spread along the beautiful beaches of Kerala. But due to tsunami on the coast the fish has disappeared in the Indian Ocean .Water and life for these people became quite difficult. Nevertheless, their high spirit let them survive with happiness.
                   Yesterday I visited one of the fisherman’s families. John and his wife         Mary lead a happy life with his two children. The lack of fishing activities along the coastal line, forced him to go to the deep Sea fishing.

1) John used a machine boat and went out to the deep sea at 2am. He covered a distance of 600km with a speed of 10 km/h. what is the time taken by him?
2) If he increased his speed by 20kms, what is the time taken by him?
3)He bought 420Kg of fish in one trip.How much did he bring in 2 trips?
4) He sold one fourth of the fish forRs25 per Kg.How much did he earn?
5) The remaining fish he driedand sold it for 50 per kg. How muchdid he earn from it?What is the total earnings?

              CAN HE LEAD A HAPPY LIFE

The way to destination
We travel a long distance
        Followed by
       Time and speed
There is a milestone,
A stone that determines
How far you have to travel more
But, our companions”: speed and time
Will always be there for us…..anywhere, everywhere
If there is no speed, we’ll be out of way
And if there is no time, it means we enter into darkness.
The product of speed and time lightens The way to our destination…!!!

about myself!

     





Im  mini sekhar, teacher of  kendriya vidyalaya no 1 palakkad. I have been in the teaching career for more than 17 years. My subject is Mathematics. I have done a huge number of activities and projects on maths. I have done a lot of stage shows on how to make maths easy. 
                                                                      During my childhood, i have learned classical  dance for 10 years. Since the beginning of my teaching career, i choreographed lots and lots of dance programmes at my school as well as outside. So in short, im crazy on maths  as well as dance!
                                                                        So the main purpose of starting the blog is to present before you a combination of  dance   and maths. Youll know how maths can be taught through dance after going through my blog.
                                  Actually dance is not devoid of meaning to dismiss it summarily from the field of maths.
                                            i not only handle maths i also handle science as well. I did a video show on sunita williams that you will go through soon.

                                            so i need all your support and encouragement................i hope and i wish for that....!
